CAMP FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I Have A Few Questions About Camp …
Before March 31: $100 Campsite deposits due.
By March 31: $35 per Scout payment due. (This will reserve space for these scouts. It is possible to add campers later with the Reservation Director’s permission.) This deposit is non-refundable but may be transferred to other Scouts attending camp.
By May 15: $90 per Scout payment and registration of Scouts for Sessions due.
When you arrive at camp: All remaining payments are due at check-in.

What do you mean when you say the $35 fee due on March 31 is transferable but not refundable?
After you make your second payment of $90, we assume that the number of kids indicated on your count form will be the amount you bring to camp. If kids are dropped from the roster, a fee of $35 will be assessed. This will help us defray the costs of food and other program supplies that had to be ordered based on the May 15 number.

What is the Camp Leaders Fee?
The Summer Camp Leaders fee is $90. Your unit will receive two free leaders spaces if they bring a minimum of 5 boys. If your unit brings at least 24 youth, you will receive a third leaders space. Each additional 8 boys receives an additional leader space for free.

Do I have to register my Scouts online?
Yes. Registering your Scout online gives you control over their sessions and schedule. You can log in and make changes as well. Registration will begin as early as March 31. Some classes may fill by the May 15th registration deadline. Leaders are strongly encouraged to use the online registration system.

Which Medical Form do I need?
All participants in the state of Arkansas are required to have a minimum class III updated annually by a physician. We recommend using the class III form that is on the website because it contains all the information that the class III does.

What is Provisional?
Provisional is the opportunity for your Scout to attend camp a second week or attend if his troop is not coming to Kia Kima. We will offer a provisional troop the 4th and 5th weeks of camp. Provisional Application

Will Participants in the OUT program camp with their unit?
Participants in the Ozark Ultimate Trek will camp apart from their troop all week. A specially designed campsite has been created in a remote area of camp for the OUT participants. Out cooks all their food onsite when they are not OUT.

What time should we plan to arrive at camp?
You should plan to arrive between the hours of 1:00PM and 4:00PM.

Can swim checks be completed before camp?
We encourage Troops and Venture Crews that incorporate aquatics into their regular program to complete swim checks prior to camp. The swim checks must be performed by a certified Lifeguard. Swim Check requirements can be located in the Guide to Safe Scouting.

Does the Lifeguard administering the swim test have to be a BSA lifeguard?
No, any certified lifeguard can administer the swim test.

Can a scout from another troop attend camp with our troop?
Yes, if it’s fine with that troop and his parents, its fine with us!

When can I reserve a campsite for 2009?
Troops attending Kia Kima this summer have until their Saturday departure to decide if they wish to renew their reservation. In August, the remaining spaces are opened to everyone else. We recommend contacting Drew Armstrong, Reservation Director at the Chickasaw Council office (901-327-4193) closer to this time to check on availability for 2009.
